Postmodernity and Gospel Practice 2026
This fall, we invite you to explore how the gospel speaks into our postmodern world through a special weekend of teaching and worship with Dr. Kin Yip Louie. Whether you have been part of our church family for years or are simply curious about faith and culture, we warmly welcome you to join us.
Our weekend begins with two seminars for our Chinese congregations: “Postmodernity and Church Models” on Friday evening, and “Postmodernity and Christian Education” on Saturday morning. Both sessions will be conducted in Cantonese with simultaneous Mandarin interpretation available.
On Saturday afternoon, Dr. Louie will speak to our English congregation on “Postmodernism and Christian Nurturing”, helping us think through how to disciple believers in today’s cultural context.
We will conclude the weekend with Sunday worship services. Dr. Louie will preach from Acts 17:16–34 on “Preaching the Gospel to the Anxious Generation” in both the English worship service and the combined Cantonese–Mandarin worship service.

About the Speaker – Dr. Kin Yip Louie
Dr. Kin Yip Louie came to know the Lord while studying in Canada. He received the calling into pastoral ministry during his graduate studies in the US. He was ordained by First Baptist Church of Flushing. He is now a voluntary pastor at City One Baptist Church, and a board member of the Society for Truth and Light and the World Reformed Fellowship.
Dr. Louie first joined China Graduate School of Theology (CGST) in 2001. He is interested in historical theology, particularly Thomas Aquinas and the Reformed tradition. Owing to his training in economics, he likes to study the relationship between Christian belief and social issues. He believes that Christians should engage actively with contemporary culture, while learning to critique culture with Christian truth, and he seeks to understand how to practice justice and mercy in contemporary society.
His research and writings are devoted to the engagement of faith with culture, in past and present societies. His publications include The Beauty of the Triune God, The Search for Christendom: History of the Medieval Church, Learning Theology through Movies (co-writers), and A Call to Political Engagement (co-editors).
